#GivingTuesday - Education

Knowledge is power. But not every family has the resources to give their children a strong start in education or provide the tools they need to be successful in high school.

United Way helps improve access to education—one of the critical cornerstones of successful communities. And this year you can help power education by participating in GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday is a global movement that harnesses the generosity of millions of people around the world to support the causes they believe in and the communities in which they live. On this day, every single act of volunteerism or donation to United Way is amplified by the sheer number of people joining in.

Established in 2012, in the U.S. as a celebratory kickoff to the holiday giving season, GivingTuesday happens on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and has become a powerful philanthropic event. Last year, more than 3.6 million people from 150 countries joined together to raise $400 million on this day of giving. And United Way stands ready to keep the momentum going this year to power education in our community and around the world.

In the communities we serve, the power of giving has enabled 90 percent of high schoolers to graduate on time.

But there’s more work to be done. Today, the youth of the world need knowledge, skills and credentials to secure jobs that can sustain families. And success in the future will take innovation—innovation that will be driven by the youth who are empowered through education.

This year, GivingTuesday will be on December 3, and you can join the world in helping improve education in Butte and Anaconda and around the globe. If you’ve never been a part of GivingTuesday, let this be your year to power education and fuel successful communities.
